Top 5 Ways to Host a Fun Afternoon Tea

So I know it has been a little over a week since Mother’s Day but I just wanted to update you on the fabulous time my mom and I had enjoying afternoon tea at The Langham Chicago! What an amazing experience. Since I was a little girl, afternoon tea has been somewhat of a tradition of ours. I must say this may have been one of the best ones yet. Additionally,  I also wanted to share with you five ways to host your very own afternoon tea. Let me know if you think of any to add!

Top 5 Ways to Host a Fun Afternoon Tea

  1. Tea sandwiches –  I know this sounds super cliché but this is an absolute MUST have. First and foremost, who doesn’t love a delicious tea sandwich? My personal fav is egg salad; my mom loves pimento cheese. We are both vegetarian (look out for a post on my transition to the vegetarian life next week). Other classics are chicken salad, cucumber, salmon and cream cheese, and shrimp and dill.
  2. Hats & Gloves – I love to encourage my guests to go the extra mile and get all dolled up with hats and gloves. When else will you have the opportunity to do so? It’s so fun and girly.
  3. Scones – cones are mandatory! LOL. I live for clotted cream and couldn’t imagine life without it. Lemon curd is also something that guests tend to enjoy.
  4. Floral  Floral arrangements are a lovely touch to any afternoon tea. I’m a huge fan of white hydrangeas and light pink roses. Both of which Trader Joe’s carries and are fairly inexpensive.
  5. Tea–Threw you for a loop didn’t I? Of course you need tea. I like to switch it up a bit though. No English Breakfast or Earl Grey. I hand select fun, vibrant, floral and fruity teas that I think my guests will enjoy.

Check out the photos below from our Mother’s Day afternoon tea and let me know what you think! Isn’t my mom the cutest? You would NEVER guess her age. She is going to kill me when she reads this lol.

Thanks for reading. How did you spoil mom this year? Moms how did you get spoiled? Anything I missed on my ways to host a fun afternoon tea list? Let me know!

xoxo,

Morgan K.
